Title: The Formula Pdf The Universal Laws of Success

In this pioneering examination of the scientific principles behind success, a leading researcher reveals the surprising ways in which we can turn achievement into success.

Too often, accomplishment does not equate to success. We did the work but didn't get the promotion; we played hard but weren't recognized; we had the idea but didn't get the credit. We've always been told that talent and a strong work ethic are the key to getting ahead, but in today's world, these efforts rarely translate into tangible results. Recognizing this disconnect, Laszlo Barabasi, one of the world's leading experts on the science of networks, uncovers what success really is: a collective phenomenon based on the thoughts and praise of those around you.

In The Formula, Barabasi highlights the vital important of community respect and appreciation when connecting performance to recognition - the elusive link between performance and success. By leveraging the power of big data and historic case studies, Barabasi reveals the unspoken rules behind who truly gets ahead and why and outlines the 12 laws that govern this phenomenon and how we can use them to our own advantage.

Unveiling the scientific principles that drive success, this trailblazing audiobook offers a new understanding of the very foundation of how people excel in today's society.

Networking is Key Those of us who try to be the best in our profession realize performance is difficult to measure in many cases. Unless you’re an athlete, measuring the performance of a lawyer, law student, or businessman is difficult. Many have excellent characteristics in addition to drawbacks. As a professor we experience that issue when trying to evaluate students. Having taught for over 30 years the question arises: which one of my students, or which ones, will become successful when all will be qualified to practice law or run a business? The analysis in this book helps answer that question. I’m a believer in networking, it is created numerous opportunities for myself and for other professionals I work with. If you have the fundamental skills networking allows you to display them to potential clients, investors, and employers. The book realizes many professions are difficult to measure when looking at competency and excellence. I agree with the thesis, networking and taking advantage of opportunities seems to separate those who are persistent and are extremely successful from those who just make a living.Interesting examples very well written As a scientist myself, I was dubious of the book's claim to have a formula for success. If you've lived more that a few decades, you are well aware of the vagrancies of fate, and how success and failure seem to be an integral part of chaos theory. But the book delivers in the end, and I can see my own experiences reflected in the laws. The examples presented are incredibly interesting, ranging from so-called wine experts to tennis players to WWI aces and more. These work well to showcase the various laws of success. Best of all, the laws are something that you can actually apply in life, and I bought my 17-year old daughter a copy of the book to hopefully get her off to a good start. One of the only findings I question is in regard to Amazon.com reviews. According to the book, the first review on Amazon is tremendously important to sales and how the book is received. But as a published author, I am keenly aware that the first few reviews are almost always by friends and family (or even the by the author, as pointed out in The Formula!). You can usually identify these reviews because they are brief and general in nature, mainly because the reviewer didn't actually read the book. Maybe the general public doesn't factor this in, so the finding may still be true. At any rate, The Formula is a great read and a great example of how science can make sense of seemingly impenetrable problems.Totally unique + incredibly useful A remarkable and empowering read, and very much unlike anything I’ve picked up before on the topic. As Barabasi says early on, it’s not a self-help book, but a science book in which the topic of study is success. It’s 100% about following the data rather than relying on anecdotes. Expect some mind-shifting insights about how humans actually reward work or ignore it. I’ve already used a couple of its lessons to shift how I market myself and my consulting. Incredibly insightful.
